What
is a Spin-off company
The
term spin-off means the creation of a new legal entity (capital
company or limited liability), from resources of a company or
other existing businesses.
Under university, starting Spin-off of research companies, is
intended both as a means to valorize the knowledge heritage and
also as a means to transfer new knowledge in science and
technology into the production system.
The main objective of the Spin-off is to enhance contact between
the university research facilities, the production system and
institutions of the territory, to support research and
disseminate new technologies with positive effects on industrial
production and social welfare of the territory.
The Spin-off promoted by universities (University Spin-off),
which imply the participation of University among the
shareholders, represent an important opportunity for
professional graduates and doctoral students as well as a tool
to strengthen the dissemination of corporate culture between
researchers and technicians in training. The Academic Spin-off
are different and are promoted from university staff but without
the participation of the university as a shareholder.
